How to use Remove Metadata
- Choose JPG, PNG or static WebP files.
- Choose an output format. PNG avoids another lossy JPEG save.
- Process and download the new files. The source files remain unchanged.
Know before you export
The image is re-encoded, not edited byte-for-byte. Orientation is baked into pixels. Browsers can add basic technical metadata such as resolution; original EXIF/GPS/IPTC/XMP is not copied. Visible addresses and faces remain in the picture.
JPG, PNG and static WebP. Up to 20 MB per file, 60 MB per batch, 12 files and 16 megapixels per image. Output is limited to 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Browser memory may impose lower limits.
Source metadata is not copied. Browser colour conversion can change wide-gamut or HDR images. Keep your original files.
Common questions
Does removing metadata remove visible private information?
No. It removes embedded source records. Review the picture itself for names, faces, addresses and other identifying content.
Are colour profiles preserved?
Original ICC profiles are not copied. Processing uses browser colour conversion and a standard sRGB canvas, so wide-gamut or HDR photos may look different.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Processing runs locally in your browser with self-hosted code. Hosting access logs relate to page requests; selected photo bytes are not sent. See our privacy information.
